PHOTO ESSAY: Duterte is a one-word man

It is always difficult for us to stick with our promises — what we promised to do and what we should not, especially when there are a lot of people who heard and knew about your promises. Just like last Election 2016 wherein a lot of the  candidates stated their 3Ps: programs, plans and promises. And because of the last P which is promise, people put those in mind and are hoping that those will happen. Best example of the person who promised is our
President Rodrigo Duterte who indicated that corruption, poverty and drugs will end in his administration. As he sits on the position for more or less three months, he had done a lot of work to end the country’s big issues and it only shows that Duterte is a one-word man.

For three months, Duterte’s plans and actions against corruption and drugs have already started. Over 3000 suspected drug dealers, pushers and users combined were killed during raids wherein they fight using their guns against the men of the Philippine National Police headed by Gen. Dela Rosa in which there are 1000 and more every month. This only shows that the campaign against drugs doesn’t stop and is stronger as the time goes by. For corruption, serious investigations are ongoing on certain people that are involve especially to those public servants whom for a long time are not being honest with their job. We all know that President Duterte hates that so much that is why it his goal to end corruption.

Another reason why Duterte is a one-word man is his programs and benefits for women in Davao. One of which that Duterte implemented during his term as mayor was the Women Development Code in 1997. Highlights of the code are as follows: 1.) adoption of gender-responsive development policies and revision of an existing regulations to remove gender biases; 2.) Allocation of 30% of Official Development Assistance funds and 6% of Davao City’s ADF for women and gender-sensitive development projects; 3.) Creation of the Integrated Gender and Development Office (IGDO) and 4.) Creation of the councils for Women at the District Level. These highlights show that Duterte gives so much care and importance to women. Other may say that he is disrespectful to women due to his way of talking. He talks like his flirting or courting them just like to a GMA-7 reporter during an interview. But this Women Development Code is such a big proof that Duterte loves the women in his place.

It’s not a one-sided love; women loves our president too as they flank

Lastly, the free health services for everyone in Davao. During the miting de avance last Election, Mar Roxas mentioned that Davao is one of the places in the Philippines that is covered with Phil Health when it comes to health services. Duterte questioned Roxas’s statement for Davao Medical Center, now Southern Philippines Medical Center offers the cheapest rate, “almost free” as to what other bloggers say who visited DMC. They also said that Phil Health is no longer needed for its rate is at its lowest. For Duterte only wants opportunities that everyone can afford and enjoy.

As he will be sitting as our president for six years, we expect more actions from him against the country’s issues. President Duterte himself, who is known to be brave and has nothing to be afraid of can possibly clean the whole mess our country has. All we need to do is to cooperate and respect the decisions he makes for he knows that those will make our country better. Let us continue to be with him in this journey as he also continues to be a one-word man.

A very rare stolen shot for the president smiled. Don’t be shy, Mr. President.

We are with you, Mr. President. Just keep calm; always keep calm.
